Pooh Pooh Pooh
(exp) This "phrase" is a stand-in for the otherwise uncouth act of actually spitting three times to ward of evil. Many Jews, myself included, employ this practice in response to 3 primary scenarios: 1) At the mention of something terrible happening. 2) When engaging in forbidden behaviour (lashon hara, or gossip). 3) And, paradoxically, at the mention or prediction of good news. (Again, to protect against evil. You never know! Pooh, pooh, pooh!)
